About Partner Bootcamp

This is a six week programme with each session lasting about two hours on a wednesday afternoon in the GTA. Each delegate will be given a small presentation to do every week. Part of their 'homework' - oh yes, there will be homework - will be to prepare their 1 minute presentation for the next week's session, the topic of which will change each time.

Programme Contents.

Session 1 - From Caterpillar to Butterfly – Changing from Staff to Partner.

· From Friday 5pm to Monday 9am (or employee to self-employed).
· An announcement to clients & staff.
· A change in these relationships.
· A change in attitude.
· Avoiding the errors of previous partners – and replicating their best habits.
· Managing the ego.
· Giving presentaions to bankers, lawyers, clients et al.

Session 2 - So you’ve made it, what now? The real work begins.

· How your day-to-day work will change.
· Things to stop doing.
· Things to start doing.
· Creating a fun place to work.
· The client year-end review meeting – what will set you apart from the crowd?
· Understanding what clients want from you.

Session 3 – Behind the scenes.

· Dealing with staff - an introduction to the fine art of delegating.
· Earning respect from former peers and bosses.
· Workflow management.
· Setting priorities.
· Dealing with clients.
· Why all clients are not equal.

Session 4 – Growing into the role

· Self assessment - SWOT
· Building confidence.
· Dressing for success.
· What do clients really want from you?
· Becoming a ‘trusted advisor’.
· An introduction to selling skills for partners.

Session 5 - Building your network

· Building from ground zero - how to market effectively.
· Learning to talk to strangers.
· Who to focus on.
· Spoiling your best clients.
· Creating interesting new projects from existing clients.
· Firing your worst.

Session 6 - Building a dashboard for success

· Managing your practice by KPIs.
· Building your practice by design, not default.
· Setting goals - Firm goals -vs- personal goals, getting them in sync.
· Achieving work/life balance while getting results.
· Building a vision for the future.
· The vital role of a supporting family.
· The secrets of the most successful practitioners.
· The financial rewards you can expect - if you work at it.
